White, Orpha Bell
The death of Orpha Belle White which occurred April 25 at the home of her uncle, J. D. White, and family near Clements has brought sorrow, to the large circle of friends who loved her.
Her mother having died when she was five years old and her father six years later, she with her sister, Edith and her brother, Leon came here to live soon after their father's death, since which time this has been their home.
Orpha attended the common school and later graduated from the High School department of the State Normal at Emporia nearly five years ago. While she was a student there she became a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Emporia.
After her graduation she taught school a few months but on account of failing health, she was compelled to give up her school work for which she had diligently and faithfully prepared.
Orpha had many friends in the neighborhood and among her fellow students who by their many kindnesses to her made her long illness more tolerable.
For the kind words and thoughtful deeds of her neighbors and friends she was deeply appreciative.
