Whitney, Rebecca
Mrs. Rebecca Whitney of Emporia died at her home in that city last Friday, May 11th.
For a number of years Mr. and Mrs. Whitney lived in this county at Elmdale and will be remembered by many people of that place.
Mrs Whitney was born in Missouri in 1843 and came to this state when a girl where she was later married and was the mother of two daughter both of whom are dead.
Eighteen years ago Mr. and Mrs. Whitney moved frorn Elmdale to Emporia where they lived until the death of Mr. Whitney 11 years ago and of Mrs. Whitney last week.
Mrs. Whitney was a member of the W. R. C. also of the M. E. Church.
She leaves a sister, Mrs. Polly Randall of Oklahoma the only near relative who is still living.
The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Gardner at the Grace. M. E. Church and the remains laid to rest in the Maplewood Cemetery at Emporia. John Randall a nephew of Mrs. Whitney, attended the funeral services at Emporia last Saturday.
