Wilkison, Mary Caroline Schilling
MARY C. WILKISON
Following is a part of the sketch of the life of Mrs. Mary C. Wilkison, mother of former County Engineer B. W. Wilkison, which is taken from the Dwight Advance:
"Mary Caroline Schilling was born February 15th, 1848, and died at her home in Dwight, Kansas, December 3rd, 1928, at the age of 80 -years, 9 months and 18 days.
She was married to Isaac Wilkison December 8th, 1870, in Illinois. They came to Kansas In 1878, where she resided until her death (fifty five years.)
To this union four children were born: W. W. Wilkison; Ada B. and Millie M., both of whom died in infancy, and Walter Wilkison.
She leaves to mourn her loss, two sons, of Dwight, two grandchildren, three great-grand-children and many other relatives in the state of Illinois and a host of friends.
"Endowed with character of real worth, the trials and hardships ofpioneer days accentuated the kindness, patience and consideration for others, which were such pronouced attributes of her life.
She was a devoted mother and a kind neighbor. All will miss her cheery smile. She was never too busy to welcome her friends.
She joined the Methodist church in her early childhood and was a member of the Dwight M. E. Church.
