Wilson, Cecil R

Cecil R. Wilson, 69, of Lyons, formerly of Cottonwood Falls, died at Via Christi St. Francis Hospital in Wichita, April 8, 2002.

Mr. Wilson was born Sept 3, 1932, in Pittsburg to Charles Ray and Velma Burt Wilson. He married Betty Ann Matti on July 27, 1952, in Cottonwood Falls. He was a retired office manager and District Director for the USDA and a farmer. He graduated from Strong City High School in 1950. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He was a member of the former Jr. Jaycees, Lyons; American Legion, Lyons; former USD 405 School Board member and current Republican Precinct Councilman.

Survivors include his wife of the home; three sons, Chris Wilson and wife Rhonda, Lyons, Doug Wilson and wife Leigh, Douglasville, Ga. and Jon Wilson, Holden Beach, N.C.; a daughter Alicia and husband Mark Showalter, Lyons; two brothers, Robert Wilson, Roland Park and David Wilson, Carrolton, Texas, two sisters, Shirley Kirkham, Overland Park, and Kay Wasmuth, Lodi, Calif.; and 8 granchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services were Friday, April 12, 2002, at St. Paul Catholic Church in Lyons, with Father Thomas Leland officiating. Burial was in Lyons Municipal Cemetery, Lyons. Memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society Relay for Life of Rice County can be sent in care of the Sillin Funeral Home, 214 West Ave South, Lyons, Ks 67554.
