Wilson, Ona E

Ona E. Wilson, 90, died Saturday, June 24, 2006, at the Chase County Health and Rehabilitation Center in Cottonwood Falls.

Ona Elizabeth Wortman, the daughter of Ralph E. "R.E." and Leona B. Johnson Wortman, was born Feb. 14, 1916, at Paola. She attended Emporia State Teachers College for one year before her marriage to James Paul Brogan. He died on Dec. 24, 1956. She married Jacob "Jake" A. Wilson on Sept. 14, 1958, in Emporia. He died Sept. 24, 1995.

She worked as a babysit- ter, also at The Vogue and Stems in Emporia. She was a member of the Emporia Congregational Church.

She is survived by a son, James Ralph Brogan, of Hutchinson; a daughter, Jene Ayers, of Cottonwood Falls; a foster son, Timothy Carmon of Texas; a brother, Edwin Ralph Wortman, of Topeka; 11 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and many great-greatgrandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a foster son, Kenneth Cannon. The celebration of life service was Tuesday, June 27, at the Brown-Bennett-Alexander Funeral Home in Cottonwood Falls with The Rev. Melody Kimbrel of the Bazaar United Methodist Church officiating. Burial was at Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Emporia. Memorial contributions to the Bazaar United Methodist Church and the "Special Activities Fund" at Chase County Health and Rehabilitation Center may be sent in care of the funeral home, 201 Cherry, Cottonwood Falls, KS 66845.
