Wilt, John Wesley OLD SOLDIER DEAD
John Wesley Wilt was born in Clarion Co., Pa., October 19, 1843 and died at Storm Lake, Ia., April 3, 1922, aged 78 years, 5 months and 25 days.
He was married on Nov. 9, 1865 at Taylorville III., to Sarah A. Marshall, Their married life stretched over a period of Forty-five years and was lived in several states but principly in Kansas. They came to the vicinity of Le Mors eight years ago, where they lived until two and one-half years ago, when mother was called home, since which time he has lived with his daughter, Mrs. John McCoun, of Washta.
The home was blessed with six children three of whom died in infancy and one daughter Elzada on April 17, 1914.
He leaves to mourn his death one daughter, Mrs. J. W. McCoun and one son C. A. Wilt.
Mr. Wilt was a veteran of the civil war, having been a member of the 3rd Ill. Cavalry in which company he enlisted at the age of 21, serving until the close of the war.
Funeral services were held from the home of Mrs. McCoun on Wednesday at 1 o'clock in charge of Rev. W. N. Baker. �Washta Journal.
Mr. Wilt and his family lived at Elmdale in this county for a number of years and was well known to a great many people there. They moved from Elmdale to La Mars about eight years ago. Mr. Wilt operated a meat market at Elmdale.
