Winter, Lora Amelia Bell

Lora A. Winter, 96, rural Admire, died Sunday, Oct. 5, 2003, at Newman Regional Health, Emporia.

Lora Amelia Bell was born at Cottonwood Falls on Oct. 23, 1906, the daughter of Frank and Emma (Stout) Bell. She married Edgar L. Winter at Cottonwood Falls on Aug. 18, 1951. He died April 28, 1999. Mrs. Winter grew up in Chase County where she had served as a 4-H leader before her marriage. She was a graduate of Chase County High School and received her BA from the former College of Emporia in 1928.

Surviving family members include four nephews, three nieces, as well as great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband and brother, Clifford Bell.

Funeral services will be at the United Methodist Church in Admire on Thursday, Oct. 9, at 10 a.m. The service will be conducted by Pastor Derrek Belase of the church. Interment will be in the Admire Cemetery. A memorial has been established with the church. Contributions may be sent in care of RobertsBlue-Barnett Funeral Home in Emporia.
