Wyatt, George Walker

George Walker Wyatt, 84, Emporia, died Oct. 21, 2006, at Newman Regional Health, Emporia.

George, the son of William Arthur and Gertrude Joy Layport Wyatt, was born Dec. 24, 1921, at Diamond Creek in Chase County.

He married Imogene M. Wallace Jan. 1, 1946, at Grace United Methodist Church Parsonage, Emporia. He was a farmer after he got out of the Army until 1969. He then worked for Emporia Coffee Company and Didde until retiring. He was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church, Emporia; U.S. Army in the 95th Division; Lowry-Funston Post #1980 Veterans of Foreign Wars; and Ball-McColm Post #5 American Legion.

He is survived by his wife; three daughters, Sharilyn Smith and Lou Ann Krumme of Emporia and Marilyn Facklam of Raytown, Mo.; five grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Ruth Roth and Blanche Bland; and brother, William Wyatt. The funeral was Wednesday, Oct. 25, at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, Emporia.

The service was conducted by Pastor Lee Hoskins of the First United Methodist Church. Military honors were conducted by LowryFunston Post #1980 Veterans of Foreign Wars and Ball-McColm. Post #5 American Legion.

Burial was in Memorial Lawn Cemetery, Emporia. Memorials are suggested to V.F.W. Color Guard Post #1980 or the American Cancer Society in care of Roberts-Blue-Barnet Funeral Home, 605 Stat St., Emporia, KS 66801.
