Yaw, Mrs. Mary
Mrs. Mary Yaw, 72, mother of Mrs. Myrtle Dull of Elmdale, was fatally injured Friday evening in a car wreck south of Newton as she was on her way home from a visit with her daughter and grandsons in Elmdale. Mrs. Yaws son, Clyde, the driver of the car, was painfully but not seriously injured.
The accident occurred a few miles south of Newton on highway 81. A car had been parked on the wrong side of the road, and three other cars, including the one in which the Yaws were riding piled up on the parked car.
Mrs. Dull and her sons left immediately for Newton, where Mrs. Yaw was taken to the hospital, upon hearing of the accident, but Mrs. Yaw was dead before the arrival of the Dulls.
Funeral services for Mrs. Yaw were held Monday afternoon in a church near Wichita. Mrs. Yaw was widely known in Sedgwick County. She was born in England but came with her parents to Des Moines, Iowa, when a young girl. She later moved to Wichita and was married there. She is survived by two daughters and one son.
