Young, Richard Lloyd
Richard Young, 70, Emporia, died Feb. 29, 2008, at Flint Hills Care Center in Emporia.
The son of Lloyd and Wilda Pierce Young, he was born Nov. 22, 1937, at Halstead.
He moved to Council Grove with his parents in 1952 from the Homestead Community in Chase County and lived in Council Grove until 1976, where he attended school and worked for Young and Sons Implement. In 1976 he moved to Wichita and worked for Friends University until he retired in 2002, later moving to Emporia.
He married Opal Nulik, on Aug. 22, 1997, at Wichita. She preceded him in death on Oct. 10, 2003.
Survivors include two sisters, Eleanor Garrett of Omaha, Neb. and Elaine Bentz of Emporia; three brothers, George Young of Atkins, Iowa, James Young of Independence, Kan. and David Young of Emporia; nieces and nephews. Also preceding him in death was his father in 1998.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 14, at the Council Grove Senior Center. The family will hold a private burial service on Saturday, March 15, at Sunnyslope Cemetery.
The family request no flowers, but will gladly accept donations to the United Cerebral Palsy Research and Education Foundation.
