MRS. L. DAVIES AT REST
After alingering illness and a brave fight for life Mrs. Lewis Davies passed
from this life to the Great Beyond last Saturday night at their home was
realized, and the fact that she only enjoyed its comforts so short a time makes
her taking away the more sad. She was a home loving woman.
Jane Ellen Rawson was born February 26, 1897, near Versailes in Morgan County,
Missouri. She lived at thi splace until she was eight years old when she moved
with her parents to Bangs, Texas.
When Jane, or Jennie as she was called, was sixteen years old her mother was
called to the Great Beyond, and from that time on Jennie took the place of a
mother to the two younger brothers and the sister.
It was a Clio, Texas that Jennie became a Christian and united with the
Methodist church when she was about 17 years old.
In 1893 the father died, which was just two years after the death of the mother.
The Rawson children then left Texas and moved to Kansas City, Mo., so as to have
their home near that of their uncle Mr. O.J. Owen and other relatives who lived
in Kansas City at that time. The Uncle, Mr. O.J. Owen is still living in Kansas
City, Mo., at 701 West 32nd St.
At the home of her uncle, Mr. Owen, on March 23, 1904, Jennie Rawson was married
to Lewis Davies, the Rev. Mr. Meal of the First Presbyterian church performing
the ceremony. Since that time she has lived just east of Lebo and has been known
to her many friends.
In the winter of 1905, when Rev. Winter and Rev. Hunt were conducting services
in Lebo, Mrs. Lewis Davies united with the Lebo M.E. Church.
She was called form this life, May 19, 1917 at 11 o'clock P.M. She is survived
by her husband, Mr. Lewis Davies; two brothers, Mr. William Rawson and Mr. John
Rawson, both of Lake City, Colo.; and one sister, Mrs. L. D. Mullin of Kansas
City, Mo.
"A precious one from us has gone,
A voice we loved is stilled;
A place is vacant in our home
Which can never be filled.
God in his wisdom has recaled
The boon His love had given;
And though the body moulders here,
The soul is safe in Heaven.
The funeral was held Wednesday afternoon from the Lebo Methodist Church, Rev.
Funston preaching the sermon, assisted by Rev. Webb, and interment was in
Lincoln Cemetery.
The Star joins the community in extending sympathy to the husband, sisters,
brothers and other relatives.
