A. Coffin. Continued brooding over financial reverses for a number of years is believed to have caused the suicide. Mr. Parkinson was an extensive property owner in Wagoner, his possessions including an entire business block. It is understood however, that his holdings were heavily encumbered and the day of his death was to have been the day of public auction of several of his properties. He had always been very active in civic affairs in Wagoner.

THREE DEAD AT LEBO WHEN TORNADO STRIKES
Thad R. Jones, his wife Eunice and their 15-year-old son, Kenneth, were killed in the windstorm which swept north of Lebo last Saturday afternoon at 4:30.
The Jones farm home was a 7-room house; there was also a large barn, garage, chicken house and other outbuildings. The buildings were on top of a hill and were surrounded by a grove of trees. The buildings were all swept away and many trees were uprooted and those that were left were topped or swept clean of bark and leaves.

Her body was wrapped around a tree, her neck was broken, skull fractured and a jagged piece of timer had driven through her side. Mr. Jones was barely alive when found. He too suffered a broken neck and fractured skull. He died in a car on his way to a doctor. Kenneth Jones' body was found some 400 feet east of the home site. His body had been dropped head first into the ground and his body was stripped of clothing by the wind.
Two Chevrolet cars owned by the Joneses were completely wrecked and the neavy engines carried cross the road. Carcasses of dead farm animals lay around the premises. The dead chickens had been stripped of feathers.

WILSON AND CORWIN KILLED AT KANSAS PEN
Pearl Wilson and J. R. (Jud) CForwin, were killed at the Kansas penitentiary Wednesday of last week. Two other prisoners were also killed when a slide occurred at the stone quarry.
The men were resting in the shade of an overhanging rock when the slide occurred. They had no chance to escape. According to the warden's statement, all prisoners had been warned to keep out from under the rock.
Pearl Wilson, 43 years old, was sent to the institution from this county on a liquor charge last spring. Corwin was sent there some time ago from Woodson county on a larceny charge. He was 51 years old.
Both men were quite well-known here and in spite of their troubles which caused them to be sent to the penitentiary, had many friends who will regret their untimely death.

WILLIAM MENTZER DEAD
Funeral services for William Mentzer, who died Wednesday, August 17, at his home west of Crotty, were held last Friday afternoon at the Big Creek Presbyterian church. Rev. Eugene Kramer, pastor of the Burlington Methodist church, delivered the address.
William Alexander Mentzer was the eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Japhet Mentzer and was born November 25, 1870. His entire life was spent in Coffey county. He married Miss Rose Metsger, November 29, 1909. He was a kind and affectionate husband and a jovial good neighbor. He will be greatly missed in the home and community. The wife and his aged mother, Mrs. Louisa Mentzer, a sister, Mrs. Marietta Gray, two brothers, John and Jay Mentzer are left with a host of friends and relatives to mourn his loss.
