Topic: William H. Collins of Crawford Co.
From: Janice Williams gennut@vvm.com
Date: Friday, December 01, 2000 11:44 PM
Seeking information on William H. COLLINS who was the second husband of my great-great-grandmother, Pamelia Margaret TAYLOR WALKER. They married in Crawford Co. on 28 July 1876. The Marriage License identifies the groom as "William H. Collins of Baker Township aged 43 years"; and the bride is identified as "Permelia [sic] Walker of Baker Township aged 42 years". William died in Crawford Co. (prob. in Cherokee) before 24 Oct 1876, when the probate of his estate commenced.
Apparently, William was married prior to the marriage to Margaret, as his probate papers include payment requests for medical care provided for 2-3 children. One probate document mentions seven (7) heirs; but the only name given in any of the documents is James E. COLLINS (a minor), who became the ward of Pamelia's son, Martin Franklin WALKER.
Crawford Co. Quit Claim Deed Records (Vol. G, p. 373) contains a deed for "Undivided Half (being dower) W. H. Collins Estate NE 1/2 22-30 25". Grantors were Panlina [sic] BUNCH & W. T. [sic] BUNCH, and Grantee was W. A. Black. (NOTE: Pamelia married William Penn BUNCH on 31 Oct 1878, place unknown. They lived and died in Wellsville, KS.)
No surviving family members knew of the marriage between William COLLINS and Pamelia until I found the probate papers and marriage record. We would like to locate descendants of William and his first wife, and learn more about the COLLINS family.
HAPPY HUNTING~:)

Topic: Dr John Cushenberry
From: Dawn Hills dhills@peoplepc.com
Date: Tuesday, November 28, 2000 02:44 PM
I am looking for information about Dr John Cushenberry, who is mentioned in Cutler's history. He was born in 1843 in Kentucky, and had one son, Lennie dob unknown. I am a researcher of the Cushenberry surname, my ancestors. I know that he is on the 1870 census for Crawford county. I believe that he and his wife, Cora, lived in Girard until their deaths (dates unknown).
Would love to exchange information with anyone interested. Or if you can do a lookup on the 1870 or 1880 census, that would be great! From: Dawn Hills dhills@peoplepc.com
Date: Sunday, February 18, 2001 10:54 AM
I found Dr John's wife, Cora. She died 7 May 1924 and was returned to Franklin, KY for burial next to their son, Lennie. Apparently John's body was never returned to Kentucky as he is not buried there. I believe he is buried somewhere in Crawford County, in or near Girard.
If you run across the name Cushenberry in any cemetery indexes, I'd love to know.
Thanks!

This may or may not work. I would send xerox copy of naturalization papers you have to the Osborne County Courthouse, Probate Judge's Office Re: Naturalization Records Osborne, Kansas 67473 Ask for any additional papers they have and the cost. If they have been transferred to another location ask how to access that location. Send a SASE. I hope you find them. My great- grandfathers papers the same ones you are after were lost from the Cherokee Co. Courthouse. It would seem there should have been another copy somewhere but so far no luck finding them.I also notice there may be an Osborne Co. I am looking for information on George Myers. He lived in Pittsburg with his wife Ida (Moore) and daughter Ethel around 1900. He was the saloonkeeper at the Stillwell Hotel. He is buried in Mt. Olive Cemetery. I would like to find out who his parents were and where he died, in particular. All information welcome.
