HOWARD E. JOHNSTON

HOWARD E. JOHNSTON, son of George Washington and
Ellen Elizabeth (Roten) Johnston, was born June 30, 1909 at Goodland. He
died at the Trego-Lemke Hospital in Wakeeney on June 16, 1985 at the age of
75.
Howard and his family moved to the Oberlin area when he was a small child
where he attended grade school.
He and Betty Winters were married at Atwood. He had made his home in Oberlin,
Colby and Lyons, then moved to McCracken in 1958 and to Goodland in 1976.
Survivors include two sons, Wayne and his wife Marilyn Johnston, Ellis and Don
and his wife Lori Johnston, Mulvane; four daughters, Marie Simmons and Ruth
Johnston, Lyons, Hope and her husband Bryan Meyers, Langhorne, PA., and
Donetta Johnston, Hays; two brothers, GEorge Johnston and Marion (Mac) and his
wife Marjorie Johnston, San Diego, Calif; three sisters Cora Wittmore, Naomi
Marquis and Agnes and her husband Tom Tomson, all of San Diego, Calif., 10
grandchildren and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son Stanley, one brother Warren
and three sisters, Mabel, Mamie and Etta May.
Graveside services were held Friday June 21, 1985 at 10:30 a.m. at the Traer
Cemetery with the Rev. Gerald Bond officiating. Interment was in the Traer
Cemetery with arrangements by Enfield Memorial Chapel Inc., Oberlin and
Jennings.
