Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at the Hermann Funeral Home in
McCook, Nebraska for James Grant Relph, who was found dead in his bed at this
farm, two miles north of Laird Tuesday by his son Willard, who lives in Laird.

The deceased was born on November 2, 1872 and was 77 years, 2 months and 14
day old at the time of his death.  He is survived by his wife and ten grown
children.

Burial in the cemetery at Cedar Bluffs, Kansas will follow the funeral rites
at McCook tomorrow.

James Grant Relph was born November 21, (2), 1872 to William and Rebecca
Relph near LaFayette, Indiana and died January 16, 1950 at his home north of
Laird.  He came with his parents to a homestead south of McCook, Nebraska at
the age of seven.  During manhood he joined the United Brethern Church and
remained a faithful member until his death.  On January 1, 1896 he was
married to Flora Beckler and to this union 12 children were born.

The family lived near Cedar Bluffs, Kansas until 1929, then moved to Yuma
County where they resided until Mr. Relph died.  He leaves his wife and ten
children-Wilbur and Dollie Rhoad of McCook, Nebraska, Ted of Spokane,
Washington, Elmer of Cheyenne, Wyoming, Bessie Clayton of Hasty, Archie,
Bertha Ryan and Regina Mitchell of Pueblo, Grace Kinnaman of Greeley and
Willard of Laird.  Also two sisters, Rebecca Lofton of McCook and Myrtle
Benjamin of Woodburn, Oregon.  Two children, Dewey and Pearl preceded their
father in death.

Mr. Relph was a good father and a good neighbor and was held in high respect
in the community in which he lived.
