MILLARD E. JOHNSTON

MILLARD E. JOHNSTON, son of Robert and Jennie
Johnston, was born October 4, 1898, at Oberlin, Kansas. He died at his
home in Raytown, Missouri August 9, 1965, at the age of 66 years, 10 months
and 5 days. He grew to manhood on his father's farm and received his
education in the schools of Decatur County. For a number of years he did
mechanical and electrical work in Oberlin. In 1921 he was married to Mae
Cathcart. They had one son, Dean.
He and his family moved to Florida in 1925, where they resided several years
before moving to Kansas City, Missouri. In Kansas City he obtained
employment with the Kansas City Power and Light Co. and worked as a machinist
for 33 years.
He was married to Sarah Martin February 18, 1939. He was a kind and
loving husband and father. He had been in failing health for several
years. Medical science and loving hands were of no avail against the
disease that took his life. He was a member of the Christian Church at
Raytown, Missouri, and lived a consistent life in the fellowship of his
Master.
He was preced in death by his parents, one sister, Orpha, and one brother,
Oren. He leaves his widow, Sarah; his son, Dean and his wife and son
Travis of Houston, Texas (LaPorte); two sisters, Mrs. Anna Hill and Mrs. Nick
(Josephine) Bosler of Oberlin; one brother, Marvin Johnston of Cope, Colorado;
two sisters-in-law, three brothers-in-law, several nieces and nephews and
other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted August 12th at the
Floral Hills Chapel. Interment was in Memorial Gardens Cemetery,
Raytown, Missouri.
