Quinton Wescott died at his residence east of
Kanona, of pneumonia, on Sunday, May 17, aged 63 years, 1 month and 7 days.
The funeral was held in the school house at Kanona on Monday May 18, at two
o'clock p. m., Rev. W. K. Loofburrow, of Atwood, conducting the service.
There was a large attendance at the funeral. The burial took place at
the Kanona cemetery. Mr. Wescott was born in Crawford county,
Pennsylvania, April 10, 1840. He was married in Bureau county, Illinois,
in 1861 [March 14, 1861, Princeton, Bureau County, Illinois], to Miss Mary
Park. Of this marriage four children were born, three of whom, Will and
John Wescott and Mrs. Lydia Keim, are living and reside near Kanona.
Mrs. Wescott, who is blind, survives her husband. Mr. Wescott united
with the M. E. church in 1872. Mr. Wescott and family moved to Decatur
county in 1900. Mr. Wescott was an old soldier, having served in company
C, of 93 Illinois Infantry three years. He was a man of worth in the
community, and was highly regarded by all. He had never been ill in his
life until the sickness that took away his life. The bereaved family
have the earnest sympathy of a large circle of friends.
