Holben Homestead 1915

the Holben Homestead was located 11 miles east
of Oberlin Cemetery, 2 miles north and 1 1/2 miles east. The Holben and
Vernon Homestead's butted up against each other (Dad said, corner to corner
on the backside of the properties). GEORGE E. HOLBEN (1861-1941) AND
HENRIETTA M. "ETTA" THOMA HOLBEN (1858-1916) came to Decatur Co. in 1889
from Kosciusko Co., IN.

HAROLD HOLBEN (1886-1954), GRACE HOLBEN
(1883-1973), GEORGE E. HOLBEN (1861-1941), FANNIE FISHER HOLBEN (1892-1957)
(Wife of Harold. They later divorced.), MABEL HOLBEN (1895-1976)
George and Etta had a daughter ELVA FAYE HOLBEN
(Jun 1898-Oct 1899).
My parents RUSSELL D. "BUD" VERNON (1926- Still
living) and FRANCES G. "PAT" CAPPS VERNON (1927-1989) lived in it in the
1950's and then Russell's sister, EILEEN VERNON MORGAN (1924-1985) and her
husband, GENE MORGAN (1925- Still living) and children lived there until the
1960's when the house was torn down in 1968. Both families moved to
Colorado.
