Pleasant Valley Cemetery
Bucklin, Ford County, Kansas

This cemetery is located north of Bucklin on Road 132.

There is one unmarked grave which contains a half breed Indian scout for the Calvary.  My great grandfather Charles A. Jones buried this man on that hill before there ever was a cemetery there. This was about in 1890-1895.

This scout was riding down that hill towards the old Jones farm across the road from that (now) cemetery, behind him was Indians shooting at him.  My great grandfather shot at the Indian's and tried to save the scout. He failed...however...that scout died right across the road from the cemetery in my great grandfather's arm's.   Charles A. Jones buried the scout up on the hill, put a stone there and that's when the Pleasant Valley Cemetery began. (Submitted by Rev. Sarina S. Schellhamer Harper)
