Funeral services for Herman EICHMAN, age 79, of Palco, were at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 1, 2000, at the Moore-Overlease Funeral Chapel in Plainville with Reverend Randy HARRELL officiating. Mr. EICHMAN passed away Saturday, January 29, 2000 at the Hays Medical Center, St. Anthony Campus, in Hays, Kansas.
He was born August 7, 1920 in Damar, Kansas, the son of Fred and Ethel (HEDGE) EICHMAN. He was a graduate of Palco High School and attended Ft. Hays State University. Mr. EICHMAN was a pumper for OKMAR Oil Company for many years, retiring in 1985. He was a W.W.II Army veteran. Mr. EICHMAN was a member of the American Legion in Hill City, the VFW in Plainville, and a lifelong member of the 12th Armored Division.
On August 6, 1950, he married Alberta ACHESON in WaKeeney. She passed away September 14, 1974. Other survivors include two daughters, Joyce EICHMAN of Plainville and Linda HOLLIDAY of Hays; two sons, Harold EICHMAN of Speed and Ivan EICHMAN of Palco; two brothers, Cleo EICHMAN of Palco and Clarence EICHMAN of Damar; sisters, Lila BALDWIN of Zurich, Ellenora MEYER of Palco, Betty Jean Kay of Beaverton, Oregon; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Virgil and Lawrence EICHMAN; and two sisters, Iola EICHMAN and Beulah TURNER; and a great-grandchild.
Burial was in the Pleasant View Cemetery, rural Palco, with arrangements by Moore-Overlease Funeral Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association or to the Rooks County Nursing Home in Plainville and may be sent in care of the chapel.
