James Oscar "Jamie" Gordon, 49, died Wednesday, February 2, 2000, as a result of a one-vehicle accident north of Ellis, Kansas.

A Palco resident, Jamie was born June 1, 1950 in Rose Bud, Arkansas. His birth parents were Benjamin Franklin and Disie (MALLONEE) McCARROLL; and he was lovingly adopted into the home of James Laverne and Carolyn (BROWN) GORDON, when he was eight years of age.

A longtime area resident, he was a Pizza Hut manager and a member of the Red Line Church of God.
Jamie was preceded in death by his birth father, Benjamin Franklin McCARROLL; his brother, Robert McCARROLL; and his grandparents, Marvin and Elsie GORDON, Ellen GRINDLE, and Carrie MALLONEE.

Survivors include two sons, Justin and David, Newark, Delaware; a daughter, Jennifer GORDON, Philadelphia; his father, James GORDON, and wife, Shirley, Wakeeney; his mother, Carolyn GRINDLE, and husband, Max, Bogue; his birth mother, Disie McCARROLL, in Arkansas; his grandparents, Oscar and Alberta BROWN of Mesa, Arizona; three brothers, Philip and Richard McCARROLL, Rose Bud, Arkansas, and David GORDON, Mulvane; a step-brother, Terry GRINDLE, Hill City; five sisters, Brenda HENSLEY, Kingston, Missouri, Rhonda ERDMAN, Morrison, Colorado, Helen ARNOLD of Bates City, Missouri, and Pat DOWIS and Barbara COLE, both of Palco; and a step-sister, Susan ROME of Hays.
Also surviving are twelve nephews, fifteen nieces, two great-nieces, and three great-nephews.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 5, 2000 at the Red Line Church of God in rural Palco, Kansas. Officiating were Rev. Dwite Brown, Rev. Paul Ninemire, and Leroy Walz. Burial was in the Morlan Township Cemetery, rural Palco; and memorials were suggested to the Red Line Church of God. Arrangements were by Spencer Chapel of Hill City.
