Kathryn (LAW) SEELY departed this life on Saturday, October 7, 2000 at the Long Term Care Unit of the Mitchell County Hospital in Beloit, Kansas. She was 75 years of age.
Kathryn was born October 222, 1942 in Graham County, Kansas. She was the youngest of seven children born to Clarence Bertram and Mary Ella DIXON lAW. Kathryn graduated form Hill City High School in the Class of 1942. She continued her education at Fort Hays State Teachers College in Hays, where she graduated in 1946. She taught English and Music for one year at the Girl' Industrial School in Beloit.
On January 1, 1947, Kathryn married Harold Ray SEELY of Ashervillle, Kansas. Three children, Clarence, Alvin, and Susan, were born to this union. Throughout her married life on the family farm, she enjoyed music and literature. Known for her remarkable singing voice, Kathryn frequently sang and played piano and organ at weddings, funerals, and church events. She continued to write poetry until her recent illness, and she was published in area newspapers.
She was a member of the Asherville Athene Club for a number of years. She was also a charter member of the T.P.M. club and was an active member for a number of years. In addition, Kathryn was a member of the Asherville Baptist Church.
Preceding Kathryn in passing were her parents; three sisters, Mary Elizabeth BRANDYBERRY, Majorie RAY, and Dorothy HEISEL; and two brothers, Dixon LAW and Marshall LAW.
Kathryn is survived by her husband, Harold, of the home; two sons, Clarence SEELY of Asherville and Alvin SEELY and his wife, Cindy, of Junction City; one daughter, Susan JOHNSON, and her husband Ron, of Nevada, Missouri; one brother, Alvin LAW of Pullman, Washington; three grandchildren, James and Jason SEELY of Junction City, Kansas, and Matthew JOHNSON of Kansas City, Missouri; and many friends.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, October 10, 2000 at McDonald Funeral Home, Beloit, Kansas, with Pastor Bill BRAZIL of the First United Methodist Church officiating.
