My Great-grandmother was Mary Gertrude KNOX. She was born on 11 MAY 1877
in Burrock, Jewel County, Kansas. Her parents were James Polk KNOX, born
19 OCT 1844, and Clara BEAVER, born 22 OCT 1853. I don't know where
James and Clara were born. They had six other children: Eva, Herbert,
Nellie, Ruby, Mertie and James Jr. The family moved to California where
the children married and had families. I am looking for information on
James Polk KNOX, Sr. and Clara Beaver. I am not sure where to write for
a birth certificate on Mary Gertrude. The certificate might have the
information I need. Can anyone help? Thank you.

This is a query concerning Allan township in Jewell Co. In "The
Biographical
History of Cloud County, Kansas" c.1903, there is a section on my
gggrandfather
Duncan McKELLAR. (Page 750-752) On page 751 it states that he helped
establish
the first post office in Allan township. Evidently he circulated a
petition
and his uncle, Archibald Paul, was appointed postmaster. Here's the
question,
it says it fell to Mr. McKELLAR to supply a name and he suggest
"West Hope"
and it was adopted. Was that a town in Jewell Co. separate from Allan?
I
don't imagine they named the Post Office that. Thanks for your help.

concrete information by the end of next week if we are from jewell

up near Burr Oak in the 1860's and until after the 1920's but the
microfilm is not in yet to prove that. If it's true, then my grandfather
and aunt plus many others were born there....and I would definately
want to add the infomation to your jewell county information and help you
