I'm seeking information on the Miss Ladd Portrait Studio
that was located in Mankato, Jewell county, Kansas, in 1923.
I have a Xeroxed photo of my great-grandparent's (Thomas
& Vesta Wathen) family that was taken at the Miss Ladd
studio in 1923. I've been trying to locate the family member
who has the original of the photo for several years now, but
I've had no luck! I'm hoping that the family of the person
who took the photo might have the Miss Ladd Studio's
collection of photos - that way I can get a copy of my family
photo from them. Any help or leads that someone can give
me will be greatly appreciated:-)

Don't know if this will help at all put have a Leslie G. Walker
that was a teacher at the Ash Creek School West of
Northbranch, in Highland Township. Have what is called a
school souvenir that shows his name and I have an image
of it on my Jewell County photo page at
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~mcindoo/
It is photo #19. Of course the Walker name is fairly
common but since it is in the same county it is worth a look.
Let me know.

I'm looking for a Rebecca Embich. She was married to a fellow by the last name of Culvy. (I don't know if they divorced or if he died). She then married a Daniel S. Wolfe in 1884. I belive they lived in Jewell County, possibly near Randall,KS. I have found out that she might be of Indian decent (not Daniel S. Wolfe like I have thought before). Rebecca died in 1902. If anyone has any kind of information about Rebecca Embich, especially who her parents were, please e-mail me at karsonnn@aol.com. thanks

I am researching the family of William Elwood BUNDY, MD,
who practiced medicine in Jewelll County in the 1890s and
early 1900s. He was born in Owen County, Harrison
Township, Indiana on November 12, 1852, and died in
Hugoton, Kansas on June 20, 1928. He also practiced in
Ionia, Cawker City, Bluff City, and Liberty- all in Kansas. His
tenure of practice in Cawker City was from 1878 to 1880,
then from 1880 to 1886 in Liberty, then from 1886 to1892
in Ionia, then in Bluff City from 1892 to 1894, then back in
Ionia from 1894 to 1899, then in North Branch from 1899 to
1901. He was married to Elmira E COOK on February 15,
1880. Elmira was born in Iowa in 1864. She died in Hugoton
in 1934. Their children were Clyde BUNDY, born in Kansas in
1886, and Truella, born in Kansas in 1894. I have
information on the descendants of Truella BUNDY and
George JOHNSON-married in 1910 in Hugoton Kansas. I
would like any information about William and family druing
their periods of residence in Jewell County.

Do so wish I had information on your family, however all names are completely foreign to me. Isaac Donahoo and family homesteaded in Jewell County, Kansas, Harrison Township in 1872 and lived there all his life as did his son Elmer David (my great-grandfather). Undoubtedly, they knew each other and know your relative was probably a source of great comfort to all in the area.
A source of interesting information was a book called White Price White Rock by Harry E. Ross published by the Burr Oak Herald in 1937. Subtitled "A Chronicle of Northwestern Jewell County. Also, White Rock Historical Sketches by Ellen Morlan Warren, repreinted from the Superior Express, Superior, Nebraska in 1933. I believe this last was on file at LDS Church. Can't remember where I saw White Price White Rock - could be LDS - could be Newberry's in Chicago. Hope this helps.
I'll save this query and if ever anything comes up will get it to you.
Happy hunting,
Judy Prout
