I am looking for the location and/or description of the
Fairview School (District 43) in Jewell County in 1885/1886.
My grandfather S. A. Myover taught at that school, and in
May of 1886 became publisher of a weekly newspaper (the
Jewell County Democrat) in Jewell City.

Contact the County Clerk at Mankato. I went there looking
for information about the school that my grandmother
taught at in 1905. They had documents for each school year
with the teacher's name, the families with children in the
district, how much the teacher was paid, how long the school
term was, etc. Very interesting info.

Topic: McGuire
From: Kathy Hoeme larry@ruraltel.net
Date: Thursday, August 05, 1999 06:52 PM
I'm searching for my grandmother's family. Her name was Mable Laura McGuire Perry Copp, born in Osborne Co. 1887. Father was James H. McGuire, born about 1836 in New York. His parents were from Ireland (according to census reports).
My grandmother's brother, Charles L. McGuire, signed my
grandmother's death certificate in 1936 in Topeka,KS.
He listed his home as Ottawa. Don't know if that was Ottawa,
Kansas or Ottawa County. Would like to find Mable and
Charles' siblings' families.
My grandmother was adopted 1896 in Paradise, KS (Russell
County) by Jerome and Mary Perry.
Since Jewell County is so close to Osborne County, I thought
it couldn't hurt to place this query here. Maybe someone
familar with the names will see it.
Thank you for any help.

I'm looking for any information regarding two sets of great-grandfathers and families who lived in Jewell county in the late 1800's. George Keenon (sometimes Keenan) married Mary. Oliver Westcott married Mary Hearriett LaVina Martin. Each had several children, I have some of their school records, and that is about all. They moved to Oregon together around 1900.
Thanks

Am seeking information on any or all my ancestors. Byron Peter Frost and Mary Wanamaker settled in Esbon about 1869 or so.
Mary's parents names lead to confusion, as monumental inscriptions and obituaries bear discrepancies. Any help gratefully acknowledged and appreciated.

Topic: Ramsey, Clark, Magnusson

I am researching the RAMSEY family in Jewell Co. The info I currently have is that Peter and Catherine RAMSEY moved to Grant Twp, Formoso City and in 1899 purchased land (I have a copy of the deed and a map of 1921 that shows where the property was at)
Peter RAMSEY is said to have been the Mayor of Formoso from about 1907-1909 and served on the Board of Education for 23 years about 1900-1923.
Peter and Catherine had 11 children, some of which also lived in Jewell Co.
Peter RAMSEY Jr. never married, on the 1910 census Peter's occupation is listed as a Mail Carrier, living on Appleby Street.
Robert RAMSEY m Gertrude CASE Oct 1, 1891 (a few years before his parents came to KS)1910 census has Robert as the Proprietor of a Hotel, 1 daughter is Maggie RAMSEY age 17.
The 1920 census lists Robert again with wife Gertie, dau Maggie and son in law Frank GERTSON.
Alice Evaline RAMSEY, m. Arthur CLARK date unknown, children are Bernice, Virgil, Vivian, and Lyle. Alice was known as Eva.. 1920 census.
Catherine RAMSEY m. John MAGNUSSON date unknown, 1910 census show Catherine as the mother of 4 children, 2 of these are listed as being John, age 22 and Nellie, age 17.
I have not located this family on the 1900 census as of yet.
William RAMSEY, on the 1900 census was living with his brother Robert (above) I have info that says William married in KC, MO about 1903 or 1905 to Acsah Mae LUSH.
Henry Scott RAMSEY was living at home with his father and stepmother on the 1910 census.
Peter remarried to Mary CASE in 1905 after the death of Catherine RAMSEY in 1903.
I would be very interested in any info on this family. Any suggestions on where to obtain info about the time that Peter spent as Mayor of Formoso, and on the School Board would be very much appreciated.
