Looking for information about Hibbard, Curtis and Sarah. Date of arrival in
Kansas prior to 1900. She was Sarah E. (maybe Libby) Skinner before marriage.
She was born in Ill. on 4-15-1854. Raised by her maternal grandparents, Bennett.
Do not know where Curtis was born, dob 6-8-1848. They were the parents of 5
girls, Mamie (Mary Alice) dob 2-26-1886, Addie, Laura, Vestie born 1892, Inez.
(Mamie was my grandmother) and one son (Walter dob 1873). The family moved to
Hinton, Okla. about 1902. Any information would be welcome.

John R. Mc Daniel's parents were Levi(born 1831-OH) and Rachel (Stipe) Gant(born
1839-OH) John married Jennie Pearl on March 30, 1900 in Jewell Co. and had four
children: Wilbur,Mildred, Daisy, and Dallas. Searching for more information on
this family, especially the death & burial place of John & his parents(Levi &
Rachel)

Does anyone know who takes care of this cemetery today? I was out there not long
ago and there has been some new graves put in there.I would like to find out to
see if there is a list somewhere of who is buried there. It is located North of
Weber and just east of the old school house. It has the name of Valley View
Cemetery.Thank you.

I am trying to find the descendents of Martha Dorcas Cave. She is the daughter
of Downing H. Cave and Jemina R. Rice and I am related to both of these people.
I am hoping some of the descendents of this family will see this. I have some of
the children of this Cave Simmons union as follows;
William Leroy Cave, Purley A. Cave, Ross A. Cave, Roy Simmons, Chester Cave, Jim

My Name is Robert Eugene Vaughn,
I understand that my Father,Lloyd Irving Vaughn,was from Esbon. His father was
the local newspaper person. I also understand that I had an Aunt who was named
"Bert" Sink and they were wheat farmers.
I see in the listing of surnames that neither Sink or Vaughn are listed. Would
someone there be able to point me in the proper direction so I might research my
family history there.

We are interested in sharing information on the FINN, FISHER and QUICK families
who lived in the Lovewell and Formosa areas. The Finns and Quicks came from
Pennsylvania and the Fishers from Canada via Michigan. We recently visited
Jewell County and found some of our family in the Laurel Hill Cemetery near
Lovewell. We took lots of digital pictures in that cemetery and several
others.

Looking for Ray and Minnie Myers (not sure of spelling, could be Meyers or
Meyer). Supposedly, they are buried in a cemetery in Jewell County close to the
Smith County border. Minnie was born in 1890. I believe Ray Myers was still
alive in 1959. Anyone who is familiar with cemeteries in Western Jewell County,
please reply. Thanks.

My great grandparents, William Harmon[birth and death dates unknown]and
Julia[maiden name,birth and death dates unknown]were living in Ionia,Jewell
Co,KS according to the 1880 census. There were 5 children in the family at that
time, one being my grandfather Francis Ulysses[bDec.7,1874 in MO[don't know
where]dJune1949 Oberlin,Decatur Co, KS. He married Clara Dietrich[bJune 20,1878
Palmyra,Harrison Co,IN dApril 1973 San Diego,CA]on Oct 28,1897 in Cloud Co,KS. I
have quite a bit of info on Clara but only what is stated here on the others.

A puzzle concerning Jewell County is as follows:
Edgington, Illinois (Rock Island Co.) Sept 28, 1881
Mrs McGuffey left here on Monday last for Jewell County, Kansas, where , it is
said that she will become a bride. The intended groom is a youth of 60 or more
summers, and was an old settler of this place for more than 20 years, but for
the last ten years he has lived in Kansas.
The Daily Argus Thursday, Sept 29, 1881 page 4 column 5.
Margaret was born ca. 1834 in Scotland, and was the widow of William McGuffey.
There were two children Jesse H. (f) and John B. I have checked the marriage
records but didn't have any luck. I would like the name of the groom if
possible, where they may have lived and died.

I am researching William Davis KINKEAD, 1819-1903, and his wife Emily,
1820-1901, who lived in Jewell County, Kansas, in 1881, according to his
father's estate. I don't know when they arrived or left, but they came from
Boone Co, IA, after 1869, and were buried in Pottawattamie Co, IA. They buried
four children in Boone and their surviving daughter, Dora, settled in or near
Council Bluffs with her husband, Chester Clark.

Lived in BUFFALO TWP in 1880 with son John W Kinkead and son's wife, Jennie.

I am trying to find info on William Martin Gum, he is my gg grandfather, I have
much history about him including that he is buried in Webber Cemetery in Jewell
co. Ks. however after making a trip to this cemetery I could not find him or his
wife Elizabeth (Potter) Gum who is also supposed to be buried there, no
headstones could be found, they died in 1891 &1899 respectively, I am not having
any luck finding solid facts that they are there, i.e. death certs or cemetery
registers, any info would be highly appreciated
