It was 11,232 in 1887; in 1888 it was 11,889; but in 1889 it fell to 9,254; in 1890 it was 9,183; in 1891, 9,044; in 1892 it footed up to 9,214 and in 1893 it forged ahead till there were 9,662 people in Lincoln county; but in 1894 the population dropped to 9.294, and in 1895 it was 8,982. The population this year, according to the returns of the trustees, is: Salt Creek, 430; Logan, 363; Colorado, 535; Madison, 262; Scott, 412; Beaver, 403; Elkhorn, 505; Franklin, 445; Battle Creek, 330; Marion, 370; Indiana, 588; Valley, 203; Orange, 462; Grant, 474; Vesper, 357; Golden Belt, 303; Cedron, 492; Hanover, 336; Pleasant, 606; Highland, 293; Lincoln city, 729. Total, 8,978.Pleasant township and the city of Lincoln are the most populace, though neither overruns the 1,000 mark. Lincoln, with the additions, has about 1,100 people. In comparison with other counties Lincoln has not lost much of her boom population, and it is asserted that it is now on the increase.
