Obituary of ELI JAMES PETERSON |
Eli James Peterson, a
life-long resident of Florence, passed away Friday, January 17, at St.
Luke's Hospital at Marion. He was 81 years, 4 months and two days. The son of Moses and Caroline Peterson, he was born September 15, 1882, on the farm on which he resided most of his life. On October 24, 1912, he was married to Lydia Hett in Marion. On October 24, 1962, they celebrated their Golden Widding Anniversary. Mr. Peterson was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church of Peabody. He is survived by his wife, and six children, Mrs. August (Helen) Sellars of Florence; Mrs. Henry (Caroline) Bloomer of Peabody; Mrs. Olin (Edna) Angle of Braman, Okla; Melvin Peterson of Axtell, Clifford Peterson of Augusta and Willard Peterson of Florence. One son, Ralph, is deceased. He is survived by 23 grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and a half-brother, William Olsen, of Marion. Funeral services were held at St. Paul's Lutheran Church Sunday, January 19, at 2:00 p.m. The Rev. Frank A. Miller officiated. Music was given by a quartet, Marvin Larsen, J. M. Neuhauser, Emil Heyland and Ernest Hoiler, and Miss Ada Wilbirt, organist. Casket Bearers were grandsons of the deceased: Robert Ehrilich, John Bloomer, Lawrence Angle, Robert Sellars, Donald Bloomer and Darrell Phillips. Committal was at Prairie Lawn Cemetery, Peabody. Eli Peterson Service Was Held Sunday Funeral services were held on Sunday for Eli James Peterson, who passed away at St. Luke hospital in Marion. The deceased was a life-long resident of Florence. He was the father of Mrs. Henry Bloomer of Peabody and was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Services were conducted at the church by the rev. Frank Miller and interment was at Prairie Lawn Cemetery. |
