Obituary of MARIE AUGUSTA BENEKE
Marie Augusta Beneke, 96, Lincolnville, died June 3, 2000, at Marion.

Services were held Tuesday at St. John's Lutheran Church, Lincolnville.
The Rev. Alan Stahlecker was the officiating clergyman. Vocal music was by the congregation with Ruth Poppe as organist. Casket bearers were James Snelling, Mark Snelling, Bradley Snelling, Douglas Beneke, Larry Beneke, John Beneke, Chris Beneke, Terry Beneke, Brian Beneke, and Martin Moody.

A memorial fund has been established in her name at the church. 
Burial was in Lincolnville Cemetery. 

She was born Nov. 5, 1903, at Lincolnville, the daughter of Emil and Augusta (Schlesener) Krause.

On April 26, 1922, she was married to William Beneke. Their first home was northwest of Newton. In 1931 they moved to a farm east of Lincolnville.

The couple had six children. 

She was a homemaker and also a partner with her husband in farming. He died in 1988. She remained in Lincolnville until moving to Marion Manor in 1991.

She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and was active in the Lutheran Women's Missionary League. She also was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

Survivors include five sons, Eldon of Lincolnville, Emil of Wichita, Virgil of Ord, Neb., William Lynford of Parsons, and Rodney of Kennesaw, Ga.; one daughter, Luella Snelling of Wichita; three sisters, Martha Brockmeier of Herington, Esther Groneman of Lincolnville, and Augusta Ollenberger of Marion; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and many nephews and nieces.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and by brothers Martin,, Bill, Paul, and August Krause; and sisters Bertha Otte, Ottillie Albrecht, and Lena Albrecht.
