Obituary of MAX D. KRAUSE |
Max D. Krause, 74, died July 28, 2000, at
Holiday Resort Care Center in Emporia. Born May 3, 1926, at Hillsboro, he was the son of Frank and Minnie (Jost) Krause. He was married to Lu Jean Koch on June 11, 1948, at Florence. They lived at Potwin and Hartford prior to moving to Emporia in 1992. Survivors include his wife, Lu Jean Krause, of the home; sons, Max of Emporia and Chad and Keith, both of Lebo; daughters, Kay Shandler of Emporia and Kathleeen Carney of Plainfield, Conn.; brothers, Don Krause of Hillsboro and Frank Krause of Lawrence; and 14 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and by one brother, Norman. A welder, blacksmith, and maintenance engineer, he retired in 1988. He was an Army veteran of World War II service in Europe. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Emporia, was a past commander of Ball-McColm Post of the American Legion, a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Kiwanian, Boy Scout leader, and 4-H leader. Services were held this afternoon, Wednesday, at First United Methodist Church, Emporia, with burial in Hillcrest Cemetery at Florence earlier in the day. A memorial fund has been established in his name with Friends of the Zoo at Emporia. |
