Subscribed on the roll of Ohio in the rate of 53 dollars 33 cents per annum commend on the 4th day of March 1831.

Know all men by these presents that this is to set forth and prove the marriage contract between James Curry and Martha [Crooks] which appears on the records of Rev. John McMillen married which as follows Thursday 22d day of February 1781 and was married in the state of Pennsylvania Washington County as the affidavitt hereafter taken will more fully set forth.

depose me E[dmon] Bales a justice of the peace in and for said county personally appeared Catherin Allen being the daughter of the above named Rev. McMillan deceased who was duly sworn as the law [requires] by me. And deposses and sayeth aht she is the daughter of the said Rev. McMillen and that her father was a minister in the Prebyterian Church in Washington County Pa and that he kepn an docoument of those that he married in a small memorandum book and at his death his memorandum with other papers fell into the hands of my hsuband Rev. Moses Allen now deceased and have been by him preserved and further I believe that said memorandum book is in the hand writing of my father and have no doubt of the correctness of the [ ] entry as appears in said records of marriages kept by him said Rev. John McMillan as she hereby belives and further [] affiant sayeth not.

Court of Common Please
of the term of July A.D. 1832

On this third day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty two personally appeared before the Honorable the Judges of the Court of Common Please in and for the county of butler and State of Ohio, James Curry ages seventy seix years, a resident of the county of Butler aforesaid, who being first duly sworn according to law, doth upon his oath make the following declartaion in order to obtain the benefit of the act of Congress passes June seventh Eighteen hundered and thirty two


That iin the month March seventeen hundred and seventy six in Westmoreland County Pennsylvania he enlisted to serve in Captain Samuel Miller's Company of Rangers on the frontiers against the Indians in which expedition deponent served eight ornine months -- On the twenty seventh of October, seventeen hundred and seventy seven in Westmoreland county aforesaid seponent volunteered to serve in Captain John Moore's Company in Colonel John Sh[ields] Regiment of militia -- deponent was marched in said company by order of General Hand of the said Brigade to remove the garrison and store at [Kittaning] and demolish the Fort and remove said garrison and stores nearer to the white population and build a new Fort which they effected at "Pine Run" on the Alleghany River in said county under command of Captain Sammual Morehead of Colon'l McRoys Regiment of State Troop's naming the new fort after the name of their commanding general "Fort Hand" deponent served during this last mentioned expedition two months on the twelfth of February seventeen hundred and seventy eight doponent again volunteered [ ] in said county to serve in Captain McGuffy's Company under command of Lieutenant Edward McDowel of Colonel John Pomeroy's regiment ofmilitia in General Hand's expedition against the Indians on Lake Erie in which deponent served two months. About the first of June following deponent volunteered to serve at Fort Leganier under Captain Knox of the Regiment aforesaid where deponent served three months -- deponent was subsequently in the milia service on the frontiers in different companies and under different officers more than one year, but did not receive a written discharge -- deponent says he served during the whole war more than sixteen months deponent moved from Wetmoreland county Pennsylvania to Butler County Ohio about twenty three years ago where he has since resided and now ersides. Deopnent has no written records of his age but states that he was born in Lancaster County Pennsylvania on the seventh day of April seventeen hundred and fifty six. Deponent knows of noe person living by whome he can prove his services except John Curry his brother, now residing in Preble County Ohio by whome he believes he can in part prove the same deponent is well known. A William Ogle and Robert Milliken and other inhabitatns of Butler County aforesaidy by whom he can is he believes prove his character for truth and veracity and his general reputation as a soldier of the Revolution do herby relinqishes every claim whatever to a pension in any city except the present and declares that his name is not on the pension Roll of the agency of any state.

We Robert B. Millikin post master in B[oys]ville Ohio and William Ogle residents of said county of Butler Ohio hereby certify that we are acquainted with James Curry by whom the above declaration has been subscribed to and sworn to that we believe him to be seventy six years of age. The he is reputed and believed in this [ ] which he resides to have been a soldiers of the revolution and we concur in that opinion and said James Curry has always been reputed & [ ] to be an honest man and we have full confidence in the truth of his statement his character for truth and veracity is good.

State of Ohio
Butler County

Probate Court

On this twelfth day of June 1856, personally appeared in the Probate Court of said county in open court said court bing a court of record. James Curry aged 67 years a resdient in the county of Union and state of Indiana who being first duly sworn according to law does on his oath make the following declaration in order to obtain the benefit of the provision made by the Act of Congress passed July 4th 1836. That he is the duly appointed and qualified administrator of Martha Curry deceased, who was the widow of James Curry deceased who was a Revolutionary Pensioner under tha ct of Congress passed June 7th 1832 at the rate of ---- dollars per year. That the said Martha Curry during her lifetime made application for the pension money due her but there having been some objection to the evidence of her husband's service as affiant is informed no pension certificat was ever granted t her. In said James application full passage of the time of the death of the said James Curry and also the time of marriage of the said James and Martha Curry was made that said Martha Curry after the death of her said husband James Curry never married again but remained a widow to the time of her death which occured on the eighteenth day of December 1847 at affiants house in Union County Indiana. That there is no Bible or other record ofher death. That the names of the children of the said James and Marthat Curry deceased were {siz} Thomas Curry now dead who left issue -- Ann Curry married to James George living as affiant believes -- Daniel Curry now alive -- James Curry affiant -- Martha Curry married to John Dickinson deadleaving no lives -- Richard Currynow dead leaving heirs -- Sarah Curry married Silas Misner now dead leaving heirs -- John Curry now dead leaving heirs -- Nancy Curry married to John Doods and afterwards to Francis St. Clair [dec] and she is now married to John Clark. That affiant refers to the papers now on file in the pension office for proofs in this application. That the said James Curry affiant hereby constitutes and appoints Miller Williams of Hamilton Butler County Ohio his true and lawful attorney to prosecute the above claim hereby authorizing his said attorneys to do all acts necessary and propery in the premises.

On this 7th day of October 1845, personally appeared in open court before the Honorable the Judges of the Court of Common Pelase of the County of Butler in the Sate of Ohio Martha Curry a resident of the said county aged eighty nine years on the ninth day of January last past who being duly sworn according to law doth on her oath make the following declaration in order to obtain the benefit of the pension made by the act of Congress passed July 7, 1838 entitled "An Act granting half pay and pension to certain widows" or by the Act of July 4th 1836 -- That she is the widow of James Curry deceased who was a private in the army of the Revolution and in his life time procured for his services an allowance of a pension as such under the acit of Congress passed the 7th day of June 1832. That she was married to the said Jaems Curry before she arrived at the age of eighteen years and that to the best of her knowledge and body, she was married to the said James Curry inor about the year one thousand seven hundred and seventy four. That sheis the daughter of one Thomas Crooks who at the time of her said marriage resided in the County of Washington in the state of Pennsylvania and that she was so married at the Presbyterian Church about five miles from the residence of her said Father, that she was married by one McMillen or McMullen, a Presbyterian preachers. She distinctly recollects that subsequent to her marriage as aforeseaid her said husband was twice called into the service of the United States during the Revolutionary War and that she recollects of preparing clothing for him during his tour, but she has no recollection of the names of the officers under whom he served, but she refers to the declaration and papers on file inthe pension office on which the pension of her said husband was granted to him. That in the year 1811 her said husband, [huley] and family removed unto the state of Ohio. That her husband the aforesaid James Curry died on the eighteenth day of November one thousand eight hundred and thirty two in the said county of Butler, Ohio and that she has remaind a widow ever since his death. She further declares that she knows of no records, proof of any kind or description of her said marriage and that she knows of no living witness who was present at the wedding. That she lived with the said James Curry, from the time of her marriage until his death and had by him twelve children.

That he well knows that the said Martha has remained a widow ever since the death of the said James Curry deceased and [] [] not.
