Killed By Lighting
John Lueck Struck Dead at Home.
John Lueck, an industrious young German who was
recently married to Miss Carrie Zimmerman, of this city, was instantly
killed by lightning at his home fourteen miles north of Hutchinson, about 11
o'clock Sunday evening during the thunderstorm. Mrs. Lueck had retired and
her husband was seated near the bedside, while his mother was attending to
some household matters in another part of the room when the summons
came. Mrs. Lueck heard the chimney crash on the roof when she called to her
husband. Receiving no response the wife went to her husband and found that
he was dead. He never spoke nor moved after the fatal shock. Neither of
the ladies were injured and the only evidence of the thunderbolt about the
building was the demolishing of the chimney. The deceased was an honest
industrious young man. The young widow is bowed down with grief and
receives the sympathy of everyone.
