Mrs. Julia Sams Obituary
Doctors Wife Taken in Death last Sunday
Mrs. Julia Sams Laid to Rest in Fairlawn
Mausoleum
Mrs. Julia Sams, wife of Dr. C. E. V. Sams,
died early Sunday morning just a week after she had suffered a paralytic
stroke.
Funeral services were held from the home Tuesday
morning at ten o'clock, with the Rev. Gurtner of the Methodist church in
charge of the services. Zeph Fisher sang a solo, accompanied by Mrs. Ash,
and Mr. and Mrs. Glen Dick also sang a number. The body was laid to rest in
the beautiful mausoleum in Fairlawn cemetery in Hutchinson.
The Graham morticians were in charge of the body.
Mrs. Sams had been in poor health for many years,
but during the past winter had been much better. The paralytic stroke came
as a surprise to her husband, who had taken care of her during her
illness. She was conscious for several days after the stroke, but gradually
grew weaker.
Mrs. Sams was born in St. Louis county,
Missouri. She had lived in Haven since her marriage to Dr. Sams in
1896. They were married at his mothers home in Kansas City.
During the years she has been a wonderful
helpmate and companion to the doctor. He is the only surviving relative in
this part of the country. Twenty-seven years ago they built the fine home
where she has lived and were she died.
