South Hutchinson is located in Reno, [RN], county, on Highways US 50, K61, K96 & K17. It's just south of the Arkansas River; the river marks the north and east city limits.

Salt has been an important part of the town's history. At one time 17 salt companies did business here, and Morton Salt still has a giant plant here.

Our Lady of GuadalupeMany Kansans know South Hutchinson because two of its churches, Our Lady of Guadalupe (shown) and the United Methodist, have served food at the Kansas State Fair for years. The fair just wouldn't work without them.
