(Obituary)

	"LaCrosse - Edwin Bitter, 74, died Aug. 26, (1985), at Rush
County Memorial Hospital in LaCrosse. Born Dec. 21, 1910, at Susank,
he had been a LaCrosse area resident since 1938. He married Mary Jane
Appel July 15, 1943, at Susank. He was a retired farmer.

	Bitter was a member of First Lutheran Church and Veterans of
Foreign Wars, both of LaCrosse. He was a veteran of World War II.

	Survivors include the widow of the home; two daughters, Norma Lee
Sumsting, Freeman, Mo., and Linda Doty, LaCrosse; one sister, Alvera
Bitter, Hoisington; two brothers, Gerhardt, Russell, and Wilmer,
Ulysses; and two grandchildren.

	Funeral was Wednesday at Janousek Funeral Home in LaCrosse. Burial
was at LaCrosse Cemetery."
BRACK, ORLAND V.

His obituary from the "Dispatch" is in my files, it reads:

"Orland V. Brack

	Albert - Orland V. Brack, 63, died June 19 (1985) at his home in
Albert. Born June 6, 1922, near Albert, he had been a lifetime
resident of Albert. He married Josephine Ludwig, April 10, 1949, in
Otis. He was a farmer.

	Brack was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Otis.

	Survivors include the widow of the home; one son, Karl, Great
Bend; one daughter, Mrs. Ron (Linda) Olson, Liberal; mother, Hanna
Brack, Claflin; one brother, Wendell, Liberal; a sister, Furl Smith,
Savannah, Ga.; and four grandchildren.

	Funeral was Friday at Fryberger Mortuary with Rev. Charles Tews
officiating. Burial was at Otis Cemetery in Otis.

	Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer
Society."
DUMLER, RUBEN

"RUBEN DUMLER

	Winfield - Ruben J. Dumler, 81, of 1008 Alexander St., Died
Tuesday, Jan 1, 1991, at Heritage House.

	Born June 16, 1909, at Russell, he was the son of Jacob and Lydia
(Nuss) Dumler. He graduated from Russell High School in 1929, from St.
John's College in Winfield in 1931 and Valparaiso University in
Indiana in 1933. On July 23, 1933, he married Amanda Steinert at
Russell.

	Mr. Dumler taught at high schools in Jetmore, Hoisington and
Russell, and also coached at Hoisington. In 1946 he became business
manager and assistant professor at St. John's College. He received his
master's degree from Fort Hays State University in 1947 and was named
an associate professor and later professor at St. John's. He was also
head of the college's business department for many years before
retiring in 1976.

	Dumler served on board of directors of William Newton Memorial
Hospital from 1971 to 1988 and on the board of directors of St. John's
College Alumni Association. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church
in Winfield and a former member of the Winfield Kiwanis Club.

	Survivors include his wife, of the home; two daughters, Mary Reetz
of Denver and Paula Nellis of Tulsa, Okla; a brother Marvin J. Dumber
of Loveland, Colo; five grandchildren and one great grandchild.

	Service was at 2 pm Jan 4 at Trinity Lutheran Church with
internment in Highland Cemetery. Swisher-Taylor & Morris Funeral
Home was in charge of arrangements.

	A memorial has been established with Trinity Lutheran
Church."

"Florence M. Erni

	Otis - Florence M. Erni, 83, died Thursday, April 3, (1986), in
Hoisington.

	She was born July 30, 1902, in Bison, to George and Katherine
(Schwindt) Foos. She married Fred D. Erni, September 3, 1921, in
Bison.

	She was a lifetime resident of Rush County, and a member of the
United Methodist Church, Otis, and the Hays chapter of the Order of
Eastern Star.

	Survivors are: her husband, LaCrosse; a daughter, Genita Wood,
Otis; two sisters, Irene Ochs, Otis, and Esther Reichel, LaCrosse; two
grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

	Funeral services were at 2 p.m. (changed to noon) Saturday at the
United Methodist Church with the Rev. Doug Hasty officiating.

	Burial was in Lone Star Cemetery, Bison.

	Janousek Funeral Home, LaCrosse, was in charge.

	The family suggests memorials to the Otis Ambulance Fund or the
Otis United Methodist Women."

"Fred D. Erni

	Otis - Fred D. Erni, 87, died Jan. 21 (1987) at Ruth County
Nursing Home in LaCrosse. Born Sept. 12, 1899, in Berger, Mo., he had
been a longtime resident of Otis. He married Florence Foos Sept. 3,
1921, in Bison. She died April 3, 1986. He was a retired fireman fro
MK & T Railroad.

	Erni was a member of United Methodist Church in Otis and Order of
the Eastern Star Chapter No. 135 of Hays. He was a lifetime member of
the Brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen and Engine men. He was a 50 year
member of AF & AM Masonic Lodge No. 330 of LaCrosse.

	Survivors include one daughter, Genita Wood, Otis; three sisters,
Ethel Erni, Kansas City, Mo., Jennie Seibert, Bartlett, and Charlene
Kraft, Wichita; two grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.

	Funeral was Saturday at Janousek Funeral Home in LaCrosse with
Rev. Doug Hasty officiating. Burial was at Lone Star Cemetery in
Bison.

	Memorials are suggested to Otis Ambulance Fund."

	LaCrosse - Nora Irene Foos, 78, died Nov. 11, (1986) in Rush
County Memorial Hospital, LaCrosse.

	Born Aug. 22, 1908, in Rush Center, she married George Foos March
6, 1943, in LaCrosse. He died Feb. 15, 1970. She was a lifetime
LaCrosse resident.

	She was a member of the United Methodist Church and the American
Legion, both of LaCrosse.

	Survivors are: sisters, Rose Moore, LaCrosse, Hilda Haskins,
Gaylord, Mich.; foster daughters, Ann Margheim, Bazine, and Lilah
Hallett, Rush Center.

	Her funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Janousek Funeral Home,
LaCrosse, with Rev. John Daly officiating.

	Burial will be in LaCrosse Cemetery.

	Friends may call from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. today and until service
time Friday at the funeral home."

"Otis - William E. Kaiser, 78, died June 21, (1985) at Central
Kansas Medical Center in Great Bend. Born June 25, 1906, at Bison, he
married Dora Brack August 17, 1933, at Otis. He was a retired farmer
and lifetime resident of Rush County.

	He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Otis.

	Survivors include the widow of the home; one son, Donald, Atwater,
Calif.; three daughters, Margaret Dietz, Wichita, Bernice McFarland,
Ozawkie, and Vera Burns, Peck, Michigan; four sisters, Emma
Schwartzkopf, Bison, Sarah Schlegel, Bertha Hartman and Frieda Brack,
all of Otis; and 10 grandchildren.

	Funeral services were Tuesday at the church with Rev. Arthur Stull
officiating. Burial was in the Otis Lutheran Cemetery.

	"Bison - Mrs. Adam (Eve) Kleweno, 91, died Saturday at the
Rush County memorial Hospital, LaCrosse. Born in December at Russia
and married Adam Kleweno June 9, 1901, at Bison. He preceded her in
death on March 19, 1970. She lived most of her life in Bison.

	She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Bison.
Survivors are two sons, Harvey,  Denver, Colo.; Harry, Las Vegas,
Nev.; one daughter, Mrs. Loris Erbes, LaCrosse; five grandchildren;
five great grandchildren.

	Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Janousek Funeral
Home at LaCrosse with Rev. Russell Calcote officiating.

	Burial will be at the LaCrosse cemetery. Friends may call until
service at the Janousek Funeral Home at LaCrosse."

	"Hoisington - Mollie Popp, 83, died Dec. 22, 1985, at
Hoisington Hospital. Born Mollie Scheck, July 22, 1902, in Rush
County, she was a longtime Hoisington resident.

	She was a member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Hoisington.

	Survivors include four sons, Richard, Andrew, Tx.; Marvin, Hays;
LaVern, San Antonio, Tex.; and William, Hoisington; two daughters,
Alice Foster, Great Bend, and Velma Boepple, Ness City; two brothers,
Abraham and Herman Scheck, both of Great Bend; two sisters, Bertha
Jordan, Great Bend, and Martha Wittig, Larned; 17 grandchildren and 19
great grandchildren.

	Funeral was Tuesday at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home in Hoisington
with Rev. Philip Younquist officiating. Burial was in Bazine.

	Alexander - Clarence Keith Scheuerman, 69, died Feb. 20, (1987),
at his home.

	Born May 14, 1917, in LaCrosse, he married Marjorie Hall, July 17,
1939, at Ness City.

	He was a retired farmer and stockman and a lifetime resident of
Rush County.

	He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Alexander.

	Survivors are, his wife, of the home, son, Terry, Alexander;
daughter, Lana Randel, Esbon; brother, Reuben, Hingham, Mont.;
sisters, Florence Steitz, Bison ; Adaline Love, Escondido, Calif.; and
four grandchildren.

	Funeral arrangements were by Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Ness City.

	Memorials may go to the cardiac care center of St. Luke's
Hospital, Kansas City, Mo."

	"Otis - Fritz Schober, 76, died Feb. 19, (1986), at Central
Kansas Medical Center. Born Feb. 20, 1910, in Otis, he was a lifetime
Otis resident. He married Harriet Steinert, Nov. 20, 1937, in Great
Bend. He was a retired mechanic and worked at Brack Chevrolet and
Kerbs Case Implement Company, both of Otis.

	Schober was a member of First United Methodist Church in Otis.

	Survivors include the widow of the home; one brother, David
Schober, Great Bend; and one sister, Mrs. Carl (Elsie) Frieb, Olmitz.

	Funeral was Monday at the church with Rev. Douglas Hasty
officiating. Burial was at the church cemetery.

	Memorials are suggested to the church or American Heart
Association."
SCHWINDT, ELTON JOHN

	"LaCrosse - Elton John Schwindt, 66, died April 11, 1989, at
Rush County Memorial Hospital in LaCrosse. Born Sept. 18, 1922, in
LaCrosse, he was a lifetime area resident. He married Mildred Schlegel
May 30, 1958. She died Dec. 21, 1959.

	Schwindt was a member of Veteran of Foreign Wars in LaCrosse and a
U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

	Survivors include two brothers, Edward of LaCrosse and Arthur of
Rapid City, S.D.; and one sister Viola Horyna of Timkin.

	Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at LaCrosse Cemetery
with the Rev. Jim Bush officiating. Janousek Funeral Home in LaCrosse
is in charge of arrangements."
