WICHITA MINISTER
DIES SUNDAY NIGHT

Rev. J. C. Beite1, 74, retired, Presbyterian minister died Sunday evening at his home, 515 South Sycamore, following a short illness. Reverend Beitel was pastor of the St. Paul's United Presbyterian church here for many years prior to his retirement in July, 1943.
He was born in DeKalb county, Ill., on December 10, 1870, and came to Kansas In 1901. He was in the ministry for 46 years, serving pastorates in Wichita at the First United Presbyterian church and the Oak Street community church.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Florence Beitel, and one daughter, Mrs. Wendel Dunsworth, both of the home. Downing mortuary will announce funera1 arrangements later.

PRESBYTERIAN MINISTER DIES

The Rev. J. C. Beitel, 74, United Presbyterian minister and well known religious leader in Kansas, died Sunday at his home at 515 South Sycamore after a four month Illness. A member of the ministry for 46 years, the Reverend Mr. Beitel was born in Dekalb County, Illinois December 10, 1870. He was graduated from Monmouth College in 1876 and Xenia Theological Seminary in 1899, coming to Kansas in 1901, where he was later ordained on April 8, 1902, at Pretty Prairie, Kas.

In 1909, he was appointed Synodical Evangelist for Kansas, Oklahoma, Missouri and Texas, establishing residence in Wichita at this time. The Reverend Mr. Beitel had held pastorates with the First United Presbyterian Church, Northminster Church of Oklahoma City, Okla., Oak Street Community Church, Sunnydale congregation, and the St. Paul United Presbyterian Church. His length of service surpassed that of any other living member of the United Presbyterian Synod of Kansas.

Surviving are his widow, Florence Flower Beitel, of the home; a daughter, Mrs. Weldell Dunsworth, Wichita and three sisters, Mrs. Rhoda E. Platt, Franklin, Neb., Mrs. Esther Morsch, Douglas, Wyo., and Mrs. Rachel Morsch, Hinkley, Ill.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p. m., Thursday, from the chapel of the Downing Mortuary. The Rev. William Murchie will officiate. Interment will be made at Mount Hope, Kas.
