Mrs. Eliza Dennis, a pioneer of Sergwick County, died Thursday afternoon at her home, 832 North Terrace Drive.
A native of Bristol, England, she came to Wichita as a girl of 19 with her uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. John Brinley. Here she met her husband, Fred S. Dennis. They were married February 17, 1887.
Dennis entered the plumbing trade and was one of the city's first plumbing inspectors. Later he became a deputy under Sheriff Henry Shadd, and from time to time was reappointed.
Mrs. Dennis was a member of the Ivy Leaf chapter of the Eastern Star, and the First Presbyterian Church. For many years she belonged to Circle No 10, a women's organization during the early years of the church.
Besides her husband, survivors include a daughter, Susie E. Dennis of the home, and a grandson, Frank E. Dennis, Kansas City, Mo.
Funeral services will be announced by the Downing Mortuary.
