Miss Leona McAnu1ty, of 350 South Crestway, well known Wichita public school teacher since 1915 died Sunday in a local hospital following an emergency operation. She had been ill only a short time.
Born in Carthage, Ill., Miss McAnulty had taken an active part in civic and educational affairs of this community for the past 30 years. She held a master degree from the University of Illinois and was a member of the Methodist Church. Miss McAnulty resigned from the teaching staff at Wichita High School East, where she was associated with the English department, in 1942. She had been engaged in writing a series of text books for the McCormick-Mathers Publishing Company.
Survivors include, two sisters, Mrs. L. B. Brown, of the home, and Miss Emma McAnulty, Carthage, Ill.; two brothers, Frank and E. G. McAnulty, Carthage, Ill.; two nieces, Mrs. Max Staley, 336 South Oliver and Mrs. Charles Macklin, Springfield, Ill.; two nephews, James T. McAnulty, Farmersville, Ill., and Ralph H. McAnulty, Springfield, Ill.
Funeral services in charge of the Cochran Mortuary, will be private.
