Amos C. Ridgway, 85, one of the builders of Colorado's rail transportation system, died last night.
Former vice-president of the Rock Island Railroad, Ridgway began his railroad career as a water-boy. He was with the Denver and Rio Grande Railroad from 1881 to 1910. He served as Rock Island vice-president from 1910 to 1920. Ridgway helped build the Cripple Creek Railroad from Colorado Springs to Cripple Creek and was associated with David Moffett, Denver builder.
Survivors include three daughters, Inez and Madeline Ridgway, both of Chicago, and Mrs. Nina Lewis of Santa Monica; a brother, Arthur, of Denver, and a sister, Mrs. Lottie Gilbert of Lawrence, Kas. After cremation, the ashes will be sent to Lawrence for interment.
