Submitter: Ramona Summers (ramonasum@cox.net)
My mother was born in Greenwich, August 8, 1892. I have
her Baptismal
certificate (in German) from the German Methodist church in that area. Is
there anyone who might know more about this church or even possibly have a
picture of it?
My grandparents were Albert & Kathrina BERGES and my mother was Hilda
Berges (named as Hedwig Hildegard on the certificate). Her older siblings
were Mary & John.
My mother's notes detail living in Kechi. "Our place was located 1 mile
east 1/4 south of Kechi"... The house was on the west side of the road.
Along the highway were hedge trees, but our own driveway which was to the
south was lined on the north with cherry trees and on the south with
cottonwoods, which extended as far west as the barn or further"
I'd appreciate it if you know of anyone who know more about this family or
the German Methodist Church in the Greenwich - Kechi area.
Thanks in advance.

I am looking for information on the MAGEE family. The 1895 Ks. Census listed W.O. MAGEE and O.R. MAGEE, both were born in Indiana and were living in the City of Valley Center.
My Grandfather was CHARLES WILLIAM MAGEE (1893-1955). I do not know where he was born. His SS# was issued in IND. and he died in Terra Haute IND. His death certificate list his father as being WILLIAM MAGEE.
CHARLES showed up in 1910 Topeka to marry MARY HARVEY (from IND). After her death he married LEONA HANSHER. After leaving her (probably in the 20's) he showed up in Terra Haute, IND. married to his 3rd (?) wife Lucille Thorton, this was after WWII.
He has 5 known children:
Katherine Faye (MULLEN)
Ruth Irene (WINCE)(died in CA.)
Charles Andrew (can not find him, in 1955 was in Louisville, Ky.)
Thelma (DEFOREST) (died in Topeka)
Milford Marion (died in Topeka)
CHARLES MAGEE's obit indicates he has (had) nieces and nephews. I have no names.
When his son MILFORD died in 1974, relatives of the MAGEE's showed up in TOPEKA at his funeral. No one can remember their names or anything more than they lived in Kansas.

To whom it may concern,
I am a service coordinator for an individual that is not fully aware of his past, but he is 90% sure of what his adopted parents names were. We are trying to find adoption papers and possibly a lead on his real parents names. His adopted parents were
William H. Owens and Edith L. Owens. They were supposedly married in 1940 and buried in West Wichita. They had an adopted sister named Lorna Gay Owens who was three years younger than the individual that i am helping (William L. Owens).
Could you please help me find these people or point me in the direction i need to go. Even if that is a phone number of all the cemetaries in Wichita and surrounding communities. I am not sure when they would have died, but i know they kicked him out when he was 18 years of age which would have been in 1963 and i think they might have lived another 10 or more years, but that is unknown at this time.
I can be reached at 620-342-8601 and my name is Brent Smith. I work at LMC Services who deal with persons diagnosed with Mental Retardation and Developmentally Disabilities. Any help would be great.
