Smith county's first settler Joseph Cox arrived in Smith County November of 1869 and filed a claim for Section 32 Logan Township the next year. He was just Southeast of the place where the Duckerville store was later located. Some later arrivals were named in the newspaper clipping " Clipping page " which may not name them all.
