Obituary
Anna Viola Wilson was born Dec 15, 1898, near Renfrow, Oklahoma, to David and Ollie Fleming Wilson. She passed away May 21, 1991, in the hospital in Caldwell, Kansas.
She lived her entire life in and around the Caldwell Community. She attended the country school and the North Star Community Church near Renfrow, OK. She taught in the Sunday School and played the piano for many years. After moving to Caldwell, KS, she attended the Assembly of God Church. She took an active part in this church as long as her health permitted. She lived in the Christian faith throughout her life.
"Aunt Anna," as she was known by her family was married to Van A. McCants on October 21, 1919. Van was killed in a horse riding accident on Oct 27, 1924. Following the accident, Anna lived with her parents in Caldwell, KS. On September 22, 1939, she married Jess McCants, a brother of Van.
Anna's life interests were her church and farm life. Gardening and her flowers were her pride and joy. She maintained a large garden and flower bed on the farm, and the flowers moved with her to Caldwell in 1980. She was always glad to visit with friends about these flowers.
While Aunt Anna had no children of her own, she opened her home to her nephew Kenneth McCants, and to her neice Vivian Wilkinson whom she later adopted as her daughter. She also appreciated so much the help and visits from her niece, Nadine Williamson. Nadine often came over from Arkansas City on very short notice. Besides these, she is survived by two step-daughters, Harvena Dodd, of Homestead, Florida; and Leanna McKelvey, of Moline, Oregon. She is also survived by many other nieces and nephews living in Kansas, Missouri, and Oklahoma and Texas. She will also be missed by her grandchildren, David Mackey and Cheryl Graney and their familes.
