Anna Louise Kloefkorn Rains was one of 13 children born to Fred and Ida (Thoman) Kloefkorn. Born on July 2, 1892, she was raised in Sumner County and made her home here all her life.

Married on April 27, 1912 to Earl Rains, she raised 6 children. Primarily a homemaker, Anna also helped with bookkeeping in the family business of farming, a service station, implement and car dealerships

Anna's life revolved around the Caldwell Assembly of God Church. A charter member of one of the oldest Pentecostal churches in America, she served her lord and church in many ways. Sunday school teacher, Women's Ministries President (for over 25 years), prayer warrior, and a variety of other ministries consumed her life. She was active in the old-time camp meetings, especially the Attica-Sharon Camp, before it closed. Anna also sent her daughter off to Southwestern Bible Institute (now Southwestern Assemblies of God University) to study under the renowned Bible scholar P.C. Nelson.

Earlene and Glennadene married preachers, with Earlene serving on the mission field in Africa with her husband, Rev. John Garlock. Glennadene and her husband, Rev. Don Bressette, served churches in the U. S.

During her lifetime, Anna infuenced many people to walk with Christ. Her home was a place for ladies to gather for Bible study and to make quilts to sell to raise money for missionaries. During those times kind advice, friendly counsel, and prayer was shared with those who were hurting.

Anna lived a beautiful, long life. She had a wonderful sense of humor - even to the last few weeks of her life. The past three years she spent in the Caldwell District Hospital where she was loved and cared for in an especially kind way. She died at the age of 104 years and 20 days on July 22.

Anna preceded in death by her father and mother, and all 12 of her brothers and sisters: Lizzie, Charley, John, Bill, Minnie, Henry, Albert, Mart, Bertha, Jinnie, Kathern, and George. She was also preceded in death by four children, Gilbert, Dale, Earlene, and Glennadene.

She is survived by her daughter, LaVeta Lowe of Arkansas City and Eilene Crocker of Temple, Texas; 15 grandchildren, and 26 great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services were held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 24, 1996 at the Assembly of God in Caldwell. Rev. Rick Burcham officiated. Virginia Burcham sang "I Bowed On My Knees And Cried Holy" and Janet Bruner Faggart sang "Amazing Grace". Sue Jean Harris served as organist.

Honorary casket bearers were Marvin White, Glenn Barber, and Marvin Kloefkorn. Casket bearers were Don Fitch, Albert Melichar, Charles McGregor, Darrell Bruner, Leonard Thompson and Glen Harris.

Interment was in Caldwell City Cemetery under the direction of the Elliott-Schaeffer Mortuary, Caldwell.

A memorial has been established in Anna's name with the Assembly of God in Caldwell.
