Services were held Wednesday, at 2:00 p.m., April 24, for Earl Rains, age 82, a lifetime resident of Caldwell.
Previous to living in the Leisure Center, he had resided at 205 S. Osage. Interested in the automobile and machinery industry until 1947 he was owner of the Rains Motor Company. Earl had also had past service as a member of the Caldwell School Board, and a Charter member of the Caldwell Assembly of God Church. He passed away Monday, April 22.
Earl Rains was born February 3, 1892, to J. W. Rains and Sarah Kerns. He married Anna Kloefkorn April 27, 1913.
Survivors include his wife, Anna of the home; two sons, Gilbert, of Hutchinson; and Dale, of Caldwell; three daughters, Mrs. Claude (LaVeta) Shoffner, of Caldwell; Mrs. Don (Eilene) Ames, of Hutchinson; Mrs. Don (Glennadene) Bressette, of Salem, Ohio; one brother, Wilson Rains, of Wichita; two sisters, Mrs. Fred (Dorothy) Prather, of Salina; and Mrs. Mildred Swanson, of Salina; 15 grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Earlene; one brother, Leslie; and one sister, Lillian Kloefkorn.
Services were held at the Assembly of God Church by Rev. Charles Boshell. Interment followed at the Caldwell Cemetery.
