Born in Ogallah, Ks., Trego Co. Son of Joseph & Minnie (Hawks) Barber. He married Lorene M. Sims on January 26, 1946, in Plainville. She died Dec. 16, 1989. Survivors include three daughters, Verna "Jeanie" Meis, Sherri Barber, & Debra Rouse, four grandsons, Tom Meis, Jim Meis, Jason Meis & Chris Rouse, & a granddaughter, Lisa Meis-Trowbridge, MacKenzy Meis & Sydney Meis. Burial in Plainville Cemetery, Rooks County.
