OBITUARY of Carl Douglas HECKMAN
Carl Douglas "Doug" Heckman was born April 2, 1921 in WaKeeney, Kansas. Departed this life January 2, 1975. He spent his entire 53 years & 9 months in WaKeeney touching the lives of all with his friendliness & generosity. He was the third son of Jacob & Jane Wilson Heckman. Was married on December 1, 1945 to Roma Lea Custer; to this union three children were born: Sharla Jean, Jay Douglas & Chad Custer.
He graduated from Trego Community High School in 1940; was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church; was a member of the American Legion & Veterans of Foreign Wars having served in the Army Medical Corps in WWII, from 1941 to 1946. He was a Mobil Oil Agent for the past 26 years in WaKeeney.
He was preceded in death by his parents & two brothers, Harold & John. He is survived by his wife, Roma Lea, Chad of the home; Jay & wife , Roselyn of WaKeeney; Sharla & Husband, Joel Graf; two grandsons, Douglas & Dustin Graf; one granddaughter, Brooke Heckman; one brother, Robert Heckman of WaKeeney; &many relatives & countless friends. Services were held at the Hendricks Funeral Chapel on Saturday, with interment in the WaKeeney Cemetery. Submitted by Gayle M. Garrett
