Topic: Sarah/Robert McCartney-New Albany, KS
From: Jan Dunlap nedunlap@revealed.net
Date: Friday, June 28, 2002 11:54 AM
I am looking for Sarah Ann DeGraff married to Robert McCartney who were thought to be in New Albany, Wilson Co, KS in May 1873 (her fathers estate papers). Sarah was born 5 November 1833 in Elkhart, IN and died 2 June 1913 but the family Bible does not say where. Her name is listed as Miller when she died. There are no entries for a marriage to Robert McCartney or to unknown Miller. Does this info fit with what anyone else knows? Can someone check the cemetery list for New Albany? Or check any other local material that might shed a clue? Jan Dunlap nedunlap@revealed.net

Topic: Want Neodesha City Directory

While searching the databases of Ancestry.com some months ago, looking for info about my Great Grandfather Albert Walden, who was born in Illinois in 1856, I found that there was an Albert J Walden in the Neodesha KS City Directory for 1896- 97. I searched for more info today, and found nothing- ancestry.com has changed something.
So, I wonder if there might be some way that I could get microform of some kind of the Neodesha KS City Directory for 1896- 97?
Thanx,

Otto approx 1907
They also lived next door to Abigail and Henry Reed. Abigail was Charles Lee Coopers mother Abigail Mollet Cooper Reed (Aaron Cooper) was her husband.
Charles Lee Cooper was Married to Jenice Damron she died in 1917 associated with childbirth is what i was told. She was the daughter of Richard Clayton Damron and Margaret Castle originally from Pikeville Kentucky.
Richard Clayton Damron was the son of Samuel and Mary(Polly) Mollett sister to Abigail Mollet Cooper mother of Charles Lee Cooper.

Excuse my awkwardness, I've very new at this. I'm trying to find information on my grandfather, whom I never knew. On my father's delayed birth certificate (issued in 1942, 43 years after his birth!) my grandfather was born in Wilson County, Kansas. If my father was born in 1899, I would guess my grandfather was born somewhere between 1870 and 1881 or '82. If anyone has run across a record that mentions Charles M.(I presume his middle name was given to my father as a first name, Marion) Surber, I would certainly appreciation learning how I might have access to it. From there I hope to identify my great grandparents, and from there, who knows? Many thanks,

My Great-Grandmother was an Otto. I am searching for any and all information about the Ottos. I believe the entire family is buried in the Fredonia cemetery. This is what I know about the family: Father was Adolph or Adolphus or Aldreth Otto, Mother was Amelia Otto. Children are Robert, Ernest, George, William, Albert, Eddie, and Agnes (Eddie and Agnes may have died before the family moved to Kansas.) Robert and Ernest were born in New York then the family moved to Michigan and finally to Fredonia. They ran the Fall River Mill. Does this still exist? Where would I get pictures? Also have the name of W. Harold Otto, but have no idea how he is connected to the family. W. Harold Otto had a lot of money and when he died he left it to the University of Kansas. Students of Wilson county who will be attending UK can still apply for the W. Harold Otto scholarship. Does anyone know how he is related to Adolph? W. Harold Otto died in Fredonia in June of 1969. Please contact me if anyone can help me learn more about these Ottos.

You might want to contact

and ask them to do a look up in the cemetery listings, and maybe check for obituaries. While they are at it, you might want to ask that they transcribe the 1885 Kansas State Census information for the following families....(the 1982 cost was $1.00 per family)
BOWMAN, A 1-6-1 FR
BOWMAN, Albert 30-15-1 GUI
BOWMAN, J 5-6-1 FR
BOWMAN, Jno H 9-15-1 CHE
BOWMAN, M 4-6-1 FR

where the code is 1 (line) - 6 (page) - 1 (reel #) FR (city)
FR = Fredonia City (Center Township)
GUI = Guilford Township
CHE = Cheota Township
The above is from
