I'm
looking for information on my grandparents, Wes McCormick and Mary Petty, who
were married in Yates Center, Woodson County KS 2/13/1889. We don't believe Wes
was his first name--think it might have been William Wesley, but we're not sure.
They had children Charles Alvin, Jess C., Glenn William, and Claude. Wes died
prior to 1900--Mary McCormick was listed as head of household in 1900 census.
Glenn William was my father, born 12/17/1894 in Yates Center. Mary later
remarried a Hollem--first name unknown; they had a child, Carl Hollem-- I would
love to learn anything about this family. I do not know any of the names of my
great-grandparents, or whether there were any more Hollem children, when Mary
died (my father was still young)--anything at all would help. Thanks! Norma

SOUDERS - looking for the grave of Corydon SOUDERS bca 1869 in IN, son of Thomas
Jefferson SOUDERS and Rachel Jane WHETSEL. Corydon was listed as 1 year old in
July 1970 census records for IN (although I have reason to suspect this census
was actually taken about March and they might have been "en route" to Kansas at
that point). TJ and Rachel moved to Woodson Co, KS 1870, near what is now Yates
Center and lived there 1+ year before moving on to Twin Groves Twsp in Greenwood
County. Family bios state they had 10 children; 1 child that died as an infant,
and I know the other 9 lived to be old adults. Have checked the family cemetery
in IN in which most of both families of the parents are buried. Have found
vevery good stones for everyone else there, so I do not believe the child is
buried there or had no stone. Both these families are historically believers in
providing very expensive and good stones for all the deceased, regardless of
financial conditions. Corydon may have died on the journey to Kansas, or is
buried somewhere in Woodson County. TJ and Rachael established their own family
plot in Eureka and are buried there with some of their other family members
excluding Corydon. Would appreciate any and all help. Jerri

I'm trying to trace the Stoll family line in Woodson County, Kansas. My
grandfather George Stoll, came from Shauffhausen, Switzerland (not sure of the

the ones I do remember: Carl, Daisy, John, Emil, Ray, Glenn or Glen, Frederick.
My father Byrl was born in 1899 in Woodson County. I believe all the children
were born in Woodson, County, about two years apart. Any help would be

Seeking information regarding William Kelsey listed in 1910 Woodson Co. Census
with wife Cinderella and son James. Would have moved to Woodson Co. sometime
after 1900. Probably died there in 1911 or Jan. 1912. Would particularly like
obituary or burial information. Was in Everett Twp in census. Daughter Lois,
son-in-law Fred Morgan and grandson Charles Austin Morgan were in area at this
time. Lois Kelsy ( later Morgan ) received a certificate to teach third grade in

have been married in Woodson Co. between July 1907 and March 1909 since Charles
Austin Morgan was born Oct. 12 1909 in either Yates Center or ( according to one
source ) Thayer KS. Any information on the marriage of Fred and Lois and their

I'm looking for an historical verification. My Grandmother, born Anna Westfall
Johnson in Saline Co. Kansas, on 1 August 1887, was told that she was born in a
construction tent as her parents were there as transients. He father, Ephraim
Adelbert Johnson was either a civil engineer or a levee contractor. She was told
that they were there building a levee. Two years later they were in Natchez,
Mississippi and after that in Little Rock Ark. Since these are river towns with
levee systems the latter occupation seems possible. I'm trying to verify levee
construction in Saline Co. at the time of Anna's birth. Was there any other type
of type of construction that waould have drawn a civil engineer such as bridge
cinstruction or railways? My grandmother was proud of her Kansas origin and
planted Sunflowers each year to honor her birth place. She was able to visit the
state again several years before her death and enjoyed the trip greatly. Milton
