Obituary of MATT J. GRABBE, JR.
Matt J. Grabbe, Jr., 81, of Epworth Towers in Hays, died Tuesday, December 25, 2001, at Hays Medical Center.

He was born May 11, 1930, in Antonino, the son of Mathias and Theresa Schumacher Grabbe.

Matt was an Army veteran of World War II.
He married Alfreda Dreiling in 1945 in Hays. She died December 2, 1989.

Matt was retired from Baster-Travenol Laboratories, was a member of St. Joseph's Church, and the VFW, all of Hays.

He was preceded in death by: his wife, and a daughter, Sheila Grabbe.

Survivors include: one son, Tom Grabbe, Dallas, Texas; one daughter, Shirley Boxberger, Russell; one brother, Edward Grabbe, Hill City; one sister, Abbie Kinderknecht, Hays; and three grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held Friday, December 28, at 2 p.m. at St. Joseph's Church in Hays with Fr. Felix Petrovsky officiating.

Burial will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Hays, with graveside military honors by the Hays VFW.
Friends may call from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, December 27, and from 11 a.m. until 1:45 p.m. Friday at Brock's North Hill Chapel, 2509 Vine Street, Hays.

There will be a parish vigil service at 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

The home suggests memorials to the Lions' Foundation for the Blind.
