KINGMAN WEEKLY JOURNAL, 22 March 1895
Obituary of JOSEPH ALLEN MADDOX
A Sudden Death

All were startled by the sudden death of Al Maddox which occurred at the home of A. H. East Monday night. The deceased is a brother of George Maddox of this city. He, in company with his wife and her brother, was driving across the country from the strip to Kingman on a visit. At
Anthony he commenced feeling badly and before another day had dawned he gave up the unequal struggle.

Man is born of dust and to dust returns, yet it seems an unnatural and an unjust transition when loved ones are called away so suddenly. The
deceased is well known by nearly every one in Kingman, and they, with the JOURNAL, offer their most sincere sympathy and condolence to the
bereaved family and relatives.

Submitter's note: Full name Joseph Allen Maddox. Wife Elizabeth Estella Lake Maddox Donnelley. Buried at Trenton, later moved to Walnut Hill. Grave marker is Maddux. I am a descendant of Elizabeth Lake and Allen Maddox.
